Due to the continued expansion of the company, we are looking for a Graduate Geo-Surveyor to join our growing team.
About the Graduate Geo-Surveyor Position
As a Graduate Geo-Surveyor, you will work with the project leadership team to support the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical and hydrographic data across a range of marine survey projects. It is a hands-on graduate role designed to give you real breadth: mobilisations, field acquisition on our vessels, and office-based data processing and reporting.
This role will involve working both on-site and in the office / from home, as required. You must be based in the North West or Wirral, or willing to relocate before starting.
Duties & Responsibilities
Under the direction of senior management, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the installation, calibration and operation of multibeam echosounder, sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer and positioning systems on a range of nearshore and offshore projects
- Assisting with the acquisition, quality control and processing of geophysical and bathymetric datasets, using QPS QINSy and other industry-standard software
- Supporting survey planning, mobilisations and equipment setup
- Contributing to survey reports for clients across offshore renewables, ports and harbours, nuclear new build and coastal infrastructure
- Maintaining health, safety and quality standards on every task
- Supporting other duties as directed by senior management that are deemed reasonably practicable
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic recent graduate who can demonstrate the following:
- A proactive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn new techniques and new software. This is the most important thing for us. Attitude matters more than a perfect skills match on day one.
- Based in the North West or Wirral, or willing to relocate before starting (essential)
- Degree-qualified in a relevant scientific subject (e.g., Hydrographic Surveying, Geophysics, Geography, Marine Geography, Geomatics, Marine Science, Ocean Engineering, Physics or Geology)
- A basic understanding of the principles behind multibeam, sidescan, sub-bottom and magnetometer systems, or a strong interest in learning them if your course only touched on surveying techniques
- Prior placement, internship or dissertation project in a hydrographic, geophysical or wider marine environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with QINSy, Qimera, SonarWiz, FMGT, PDS or Oasis Montaj (preferred)
- Full UK driving license (essential)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office applications
- Willingness to work flexibly and spend periods offshore around tidal cycles
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, both on-site and in an office environment
- Right to work in the UK
